The best investing approach for creating wealth is something that everyone is looking for. In this article, you will get the best investing approach that was ever written down on paper. Where will you find this investing approach? That’s easy. It is found in the bible.

No. I’m not talking about the verse where it says store up your treasure in heaven to use after you die. That is a great verse, but I’m sure you have some financial plans for your life while you’re still alive and kicking. If God wanted you to in heaven this very instant, you’d already be there. So he must still have something for you to accomplish yet, and I can guarantee you that money will be involved in some way.

The best investing approach was written by Solomon, the world’s wealthiest man. He must have known how to invest, or he wouldn’t have accumulated so much money. He writes:

Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom.
Though it cost all you have, get understanding.
Proverbs 4:7 (NIV)

In case you didn’t get it, there are several things we can learn from this single verse:

First, the most important thing in the bible is not “love.” Did you get that?

Let that sink in for a while… in fact, meditate on that for a day or two after you have read this article.

This is an earthquake in magnitude on the brain of most Christians. But this verse says that wisdom is the most important thing (don’t blame me, I didn’t write the bible). Everything else flows out of wisdom, such as love and all the other good things in your life. You got to get wisdom first, so you know whom to love.

Second, when it says “therefore get wisdom,” it isn’t a suggestion. This is another command, just like the one that says to “be fruitful.”

Third, this verse tells us what is the best investing approach for creating wealth. Here it is: you are to invest in yourself and your own wisdom, understanding, and knowledge.

With wisdom, knowledge and understanding, you’ve got all the tools you will ever need to create wealth for yourself. And this is important, here’s why.

Right now, the government is spending money it doesn’t have so fast, that it is on the express train to ruin. They are going to need money to pay their debts, and where are they going to get it? They are going to confiscate it in the form of taxes from you and I. In order to pay your tax bill, you might have to sell everything you have. And still that might not be enough. They may go after your wages too.

Don’t think that is possible? Am I just being cynical? I wish it were so. But it has already started in the health care industry. A friend of mine just told me this week his doctor fired him as a patient; the reason being was that he was on Medicare. The doctor was told by the government exactly how much he was going to get paid for his services. In other words, the government is taking money from the doctor because they are stealing away what their valuable time is worth. The patient on Medicare would get a great price for health care, but at the doctor’s expense. The government has to “take” from the doctor in order to give to the patient.

The point is, the government is confiscating money from people as we speak. Do you think they are going to stop at just doctors? If you have money tied up in investments and physical assets, there is a good chance they’ll get it.

But if your asset is in your head, such as wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, they can’t get it. That makes it the safest asset you can have. It is the best investing approach.

So, once you know how to make money, you can always reconstitute your wealth even if the government takes every penny you have. You don’t “need money to make money,” as the saying goes. Anyone that tells you that phrase is a dope. They are probably trying to get some of your money in exchange for a “finder’s fee” or maybe they are a banker that is going to collect a lot of interest from you. You do NOT need money to create wealth. The evidence is all around you of people that have started a business with no money at all, and are now very wealthy. You only need wisdom.

The fourth important thing you can get from this verse is the word “you.” It is telling you that “you” are the one responsible for getting your own wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Don’t be waiting around for someone to give you a handout to get you on your feet. That ain’t going to happen anyway. The command is directed at YOU.

Fifth point from the verse: wisdom has a cost.

Did you think that anything worth having in life was free? It’s not. Duh.

You’re going to have to either put down money or time to get wisdom. Since time is money, they are both the same anyway. Therefore, if your time is limited, then you’re better off to spend your money to get wisdom.

As we talked about before, a great place to get wisdom is from a mentor. When you pay for there time, you get a much better response from them, because they know that you’re coach-able.

How Much Should You Invest?

Finally, the verse tells us how much to spend on wisdom and understanding. How much? Is it 5% or 10% of your income? Is that too much?

The verse says: “Though it cost ALL you have.” Did you get that? I was shocked the first time that sank into my head. I always looked for “value” when paying for something like knowledge. I wanted the most for my money, and probably bypassed a lot of good programs that I should have bought. In retrospect, I’m kicking myself now when I think how much further along I’d be toward my financial goals if I just wasn’t so stingy in the past.

In other words, you cannot overspend on wisdom. Whatever you spend is worth it.

Don’t make the same mistakes that I made when it comes to getting wisdom. Buy it! And do it now instead of waiting.

I know you’re still concerned about getting the best value for your money on wisdom. So I’m going to tell you where I have found the best information for the price. It is at the Kevin Hogan web store. His programs are super concentrated wisdom that will teach you the theory on how to make money. At that point, all you have to do is implement. If you ask me, it is one of the ways to make money, God’s way!

Ah, the wisdom of Solomon. He wrote good advice and really steamy poetry about his wife. I wonder if he knew that his personal stuff about his wife was going to be made public for thousands of years.

  7. Hi Tim,

2 things. First, I uttered aloud, “Oh I love this man, he is brilliant,” when I read the word “confiscate.” Yes, that is how the government is doing this. And so many are in the hypnotic nearly drug induced mind numbed state that thinks we are getting such a “deal” with the public school system. That is where the govt steals money from owners of houses and other buildings to fund the system by which they indoctrinate defenseless (mind undefended) children unto socialism and away from self-reliance and resourcefulness. And now this is the bill of goods being sold for healthcare.

Both are outside of the the purview of the government. It is NOT its job.

Secondly, yes baby! Our mental, emotional, and psychological wisdom is our greatest and more rewarding investment. Talk about compounding interest! And it is even so ordained by God. I love it. (Had to work in Love, after all.)

Good post. I never would have dreamed wisdom would be the superior trait to love. The bible has many contradictory statements it seems.

Wisdom doesn’t let you down though. The more you have the more you get.

your post is very timely! A business English student and I were just talking about this topic this morning! We had listened to the financial reports coming from financial journalists and they are telling us what the politicans SHOULD have told us before we got into the EURO…

Reflecting on the possibility that our money might soon become worthless paper, our question was where should be put our assets?
