Today I finally file my income tax. I’m in a grumpy mood. Please pray for me today that I don’t pinch off someone’s head.

The bible tells us this famous quotation:

Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. Malachi 3:10

Well, I can attest that it was true. I did have a blessed year in 2009.

Apparently, the government thought I had too much too, and they have decided to help me try to store it all.

Uncle Sam Says to Hand Over Your MoneyThat is bad enough, but what gets me worked up is that there are many Christians that think that all the money we make is given to us so that we can turn around and give it all right back to God.

If that was true, why would he put the words of Malachi in the bible? It is like God is saying: “All money is mine. Work hard for me, so that I can have it all.”

If that is what he is saying, I can understand why non-believers don’t want nothing to do with religion. Who would willingly serve a god like that?

I do believe that God wants you to enjoy the blessings he’s given you. If only the government would allow me to enjoy them too.

Question of Today: How are you going to celebrate tax day?

I filed taxes yesterday. My philosophy is that if taxes are large in a particular year, I must have made a lot of money, therefore, God must be blessing me! Or at least I TRY to hold on to that thought.:)
It is a gorgeous day here in MN so I think I will celebrate by spending some time on a ROMANTIC walk in the park!(since the walk is paid for by my taxes!!!!)

I will be hosting a table at the Sacramento Capitol for a Tea Party.
My understanding is God will open the flood gates to us if we pay an honest tithe. For me that is 10%. I personally believe it.

I’ll be down at the Georgia Capitol with a bunch of like-minded folks letting our government see what we think of their out of control spending…

is it possible that malachi could be broadened in scope to include charitable work as well or do you believe the literal translation here? obviously the scroll was written in the temple period and they had to keep the priests healthy, fed, sheltered, etc.

could it be that the scripture really is saying, that you will gain a sense of reward, a feeling, a knowingness of goodness by doing good for others?

Think I will celebrate the day by trying to lure Godzilla to the Capitol so he can dewstroy the place so we can start over witha clean slate.

I’m only half joking. Anyone know where I can find Godzilla?
He’s probably tied up in probate court somewhere. 🙂

  12. Oh yes, April 15th, the day of reckoning. The IRS said I owed them $400+. I’d much rather to give my money to someone who would multiply what I gave into a multitude of blessings cuz the government sure isn’t going to.

  16. Hi Tim,

ah yes, praying for you. Cannot imagine NOT getting cranky on Tax Day when it is unconstitutional but kept intact.

Well, while it IS all God’s, ain’t it cool to see Malachi and rest assured that He just wants to pour forth financial blessings upon us?

Also keep in mind Exodus 3:17: “And I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a land flowing with milk and honey.” Now, I’m not so well-versed in everything the Bible has to say or offer now but my understanding is that Milk and Honey were expensive at that time and place, to those people. And here God is saying “I’ll pour luxury on your head if you’ll follow me!” That is, If I have it correct; Do I have it correct?
