I recently went to several Christian blog sites to check out what they had to say about money. I got to tell you something; it was depressing. Now don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of good uplifting stuff on those sites. But when it comes to getting information about biblical wealth principles, I can tell you why most Christians are broke. In other words, I see why they don’t know how make money on the internet, nor in the brick-and-mortar world.

Here is what I read. My Christian cohorts were in a heated debate over whether or not tithing (giving 10% of your income to the church) was or was not required in today’s church . It was so argumentative, that the moderator had to cut it off. I’m not going to get drawn into that conflict.

What I want to know about money is much more basic.

Here is a verse from the bible that causes me to ponder:

But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth Deuteronomy 8:18 (NIV)

If wealth comes from God, then why is it that non-Christians are wealthy and the Christians are dead broke?

Something is backwards here… Seems strange, doesn’t it?

Here is what see going on. As I mentioned previously, most Christians seem to be waiting for the UPS truck to arrive with their cash. Ok, maybe not for a big wad of cash; maybe just enough to get by. The favorite verse about getting money of the flat-broke Christian is:

And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

With that piece of scripture in their mind — they wait. After all, why should they get off their butt and actually do something useful when they can coast through life until God rescues them.

Finally when the unemployment check arrives, they all say: “Glory Be! God rescued me!”

Uh, no… My friend, I have some news for you. That was the government that rescued you. Actually, the government enslaved you to a weekly handout.

The non-Christian knows more about the principles of wealth accumulation and how to make money on the internet than the Christian. They don’t wait around for a hand-out from God nor the government. They solve problems, which is one of the first laws of how to make money on the internet. Whether or not they believe it is biblical, it is a law of making money.

You see, there are real laws of wealth accumulation. If you follow the laws, you breeze down the highway of life without a care in the world, just as if you were driving a car. If you ignore the laws, thinking that they don’t apply to you because you’re a Christian, I have some additional news for you; you’re still going to get a costly ticket.

We’re going to dig deeper into these laws (which are in the bible), so be sure to bookmark this site. But in the mean time, you have to start working on your mind. As all the non-Christians will tell you, wealth starts in your mind. You have to get your head straight. Your mind has to be able to program itself to succeed. It isn’t a complicated process, but it is necessary.

A great place to start is with the Audio CD program by Kevin Hogan. It is called “Manifesting the Millionaire Mind,” and it is a life-changing bargain. If you don’t already have a copy of it, I urge you to get it today. Any day you wait to get it, is another day wasted. While a single day may not seem important to you, I can guarantee that the one day will turn into two, and two will turn into three. And eventually, you’ll wake up and wonder if today is the day that the UPS truck is supposed to arrive.

Question of the day: How have you transformed you mind today?

    Tim,

I guess I’m always surprised, disgusted and somewhat amused when Christians argue with each other. Tithe means tenth, simple as that.

Was it the Millionaire Mind program that inspired you to start an online business?

I’ve been selling online with my rocketry business Apogee Components since about 1996 when all the internet was was a collection of user groups.

But I really didn’t start making money in the business until about 2005. Several things happened in that time frame. I did start listening to Kevin’s advice, and I also got a business coach (that would be two business coaches). Those were the biggest things. Lots of little changes too. You have to constantly transform your mind. That is the key. The Millionare Mind program is awesome if you’re in the beginning phase of making a new business.

It doesn’t matter your religion it will be your inactions that hold you back. It is not usually beliefs that cause problems it is the lack of understanding forming principals of the belief.

I transform my mind through (1) association with people who challenge and stretch me to become more than I was yesterday, (2) reading something to expand my existing knowledge or create new knowledge and (3) listen to some form of audio that will teach, inspire or motivate me and (4) quiet time to be thankful and think. Great question!

I really do think my mind is transforming!
My profession has the same attitudes towards money as you talk about. The idea is that if you make money helping people then you’re a sell out and only in it for the money. During school, you knew that everyone wanted their own practice but no one would say it out loud because we were all suppose to suffer while we made the world better.
I believe we can make the world better and still earn what we’re worth.

I have found the aphorism “God helps those who help themselves” to be very true. Mohammand is said to have advised, “Trust in God, but tie up your camels.” God doesn’t deliver wealth and ease, God simply provides us with the opportunities.

Transforming your mind is as simple as taking an idea and running with it. Everyday we have ideas, and yet how often do we actually do anything with any of them. And then, when some schmuck becomes a millionaire off of an idea I had years ago, I think, “Why didn’t I run with that idea? It could have been me!”. Not only does sitting on your butt leave you broke, but it also gives you so many “What if’s”. Carpe Diem, people!

I believe that God wants us all to have “abundant Live” but to use our own God given gifts to achieve it. The people who are praised in the Bible are the implementers, the ones who do what they say they will, who follow thru, and then who share their wealth with the less fortunate. Quite the model. Wait! Isn’t that a lot like what Kevin has been saying? No wonder he resonates with so many folks.

    Hi Tim,

I’m with @Sonya on this one. The Bible has some great stories of men and women who took action, prayed for guidance, stumbled as they took and implemented, adjusted their courses when the implementation didn’t produce the results they wanted.

I really like this blog post. That idea of Christians being owners and good stewards (tasked to be the best in former times) seems to have gone to the wayside since the 1960s with the modern Christianity. I don’t mean to get into denominational doctrinal discussions. Just the preaching seems to purport that TOO, just like you said. (love the example of the govt check, and that is God, b/c we have our govt officials via Him, OT concept with the people of Israel praying for God to give them a king. Then they got Saul.) There is another cluster of Christians who purport ABUNDANCE being every Christians due and, just as you say, WAIT. Oh pray. Ring bells. Sing. AND WAIT.

Instead, follow Abraham and Jacob’s examples: TAKE ACTION. OPEN new pathways through which God can bless you with resources, currency, and money. Dig another well. If that ain’t fruitful, pack up your tribe and MOVE.

Take action. I like your approach.

    Happy Dating and Relationships,

There are rich and poor no matter what religion. I do believe that it comes down to your mind set. I also believe that all we have was given to us by God in my case in others Buda or Mohammed and that part of getting is giving (Tithing) One of the leader ship classes I went to we got a tee shirt that said Givers Gain Takers Loose.

That which comes to mind for me is the adage “you reap what you sow.” If you don’t sow, you don’t reap. You don’t take action, you stand still and those that take action pass you by. It’s all in the doing.

Thanks for your post! This concept of Christians not knowing how to make money must be something new? I live in a country where Christians make and made lots of money and do and did great things with it, especially in the arts!

I haven’t heard about Manifesting the Millionaire Mind before your blog… I would be interesting in hearing how this program helped you so much.

Hey. Here’s a thought: Do most of those who say they are Christian actually know what they’re talking about? Further more, DO I? Putting a different swing on things other than most translations of the Bible here, I suggest you see this page which talks about God’s name: http://yhwh.com/YHWH/Yhwh.htm

And that’s not to say “pride is good to have” as arrogance is a lock to success, but humility opens it.
